Project 25

Project 25 displays the personal experiences of 25 random Black individuals who were wronged by the American justice system. I chose the number 25 based on the statics of America housing 25% of the worlds prison population. Each story ranges in multiple mis-justices, from wrongful imprisonments, lynching’s, wrongful executions and so on.

Using charcoal digital illustrations to showcase some “before and after” of the lives the 25 lived. I made digital charcoal illustrations of each of the individual. I used my digital illustration style to represent what happened to them as result of the legal system. Ultimately I wanted to express the hardships and significant stories of 25 Americans.

Illustrating the shocking experiences of these men and women over the years shows the tragic effects of our legal system, and how much work our justice system needs.
